Watch Status Explained (Movies vs TV)

Learn what each watch status means and when to use it for movies and TV shows.

Watch status is how WatchThis tracks your progress. It’s separate from lists, so you can reorganize your lists without losing your progress.

  1. Open a title’s details view.
  2. Use the watch status selector near the top.

Movies use a simple workflow:

  • Planning: you want to watch it (but haven’t finished).
  • Completed: you’ve watched it.

TV shows support more states:

  • Planning: you plan to watch it.
  • Watching: you’re actively watching.
  • Paused: you’re taking a break.
  • Completed: you’ve finished all currently available episodes.
  • Dropped: you’ve stopped watching.

When you mark TV episodes watched, WatchThis may automatically move a show to Watching, and can mark it Completed when you finish the latest aired episode.

Shows marked Completed or Dropped aren’t eligible for the weekly schedule. If you finish a show (or mark it dropped), it may disappear from scheduled prompts.
